ENERGY IMPROVEMENT OF BUILDINGS

RECEPTIVE-TOURIST BUILDING EXPANSION
The project concerns the expansion and retrofit of a holiday house in Tuscany
In addition to adding new functional spaces to the structure (new kitchen, extension dining rooms, multi-purpose training room / conference room, with bar, bedrooms, solarium) and the adaptation of the building to the standards in the field of plant safety, health, fire, has been put into practice a proper design from the point of view of energy saving.
In this case, the constraints of the Superintendent of monuments, together with architectural and functional reasons, have forced to respect the constructive solutions of the existing buildings, with perimeter walls with empty cavity and cornices of concrete face view.
Nevertheless, through a careful study of construction details and through the use of special pieces, it was possible to obtain a continuous thermal insulation and free of thermal bridges, even at critical points such as floors, balconies and cornices.
The thermal insulation was then completed with the preparation of wooden and steel windows, with double security glazing (U-value 1.4 W/mq k).
The project has also reached an overall assessment of the energy balance of the building, implementing Directive 2002/91/EC - through the use of KlimaHouse Protocol, obtaining for the extension, the Class B, with a thermal energy demand for heating of 34.34 kW h/mq a.
The first lot of the work was completed in 2009.
